Hotel Review Sydney Australia

If you’re planning a trip to Australia you’ve probably come to realize that lodging can be one of your most stressful and expensive decisions. I found myself in a similar situation when looking for last-minute accommodation. After my plans changed, I suddenly had one extra day in Sydney. I had used credit card reward points to stay in a pricey hotel the following evening. When I looked into adding an extra night at that hotel, it cost over $500 USD! Needless to say that was a bit out of the budget.

Ultimately I found a good deal at the Larmont by Lancemore. Here is a brief review of my stay.

One of my main criteria was easy access to public transportation. The Larmont is located near Kings Cross Station. I was able to take the Airport Express train, switch trains at Central Station, and then ride a few stops to get to Kings Cross. From there the hotel is just a couple blocks walk.

The room was ample in size. There was a flat screen television on the wall and a large window.

The bed was comfortable and had very nice linens.

This is the view looking back at the hotel door. To the left is a sliding glass door to the bathroom. Aesthetically this looks very nice, but it didn’t provide a lot of privacy. Not a particular concern for me, but it could be for others.

The bathroom was very nice. One of the reviews I read online complained about the lack of a “lip” between the shower and the main bathroom. Living in Asia, I am quite accustomed to this. Many places I’ve stayed (including my own house) don’t have shower curtains or glass partitions at all. I didn’t find this to be a huge problem.

The rate I got included free breakfast. The front desk needs to issue a voucher and you take that to the restaurant (connected) next door. The voucher is good for one drink and one entrée. The menu was extremely limited, but the food was decent.

This hotel does not have a fitness center. However, there is a 24 hour fitness center next door which the guests can visit for free. This could be even better than a traditional hotel fitness center.

Overall, the stay was comfortable. There were no real deal-breakers that would prevent me from staying there again. If you’re looking for a great place to explore Sydney–particularly Hyde Park, you might want to check it out!
