Review Marriott Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia

Recently, I was lucky enough to get to spend a week in Bali, Indonesia. As you might expect, there are roughly a zillion places to stay in Bali and it was a little overwhelming. I got some advice from Sally at Our 3 Kids vs. The World and ultimately decided to look in Nusa Dua. The Nusa Dua beach area is known as a quiet destination in Bali, away from the hustle and bustle. I’d love to tell you about the hotel I stayed at, the Marriott in Nusa Dua, Bali, Indonesia.

From the airport, the Marriott Nusa Dua is about 20 minutes. You’ll pass through some busy parts of town, as well as some picturesque scenes and lots of statues!

One of the first things you’ll notice is that there is a high level of security in Bali. After the Bali Bombings, tourist destinations in Bali implemented strict procedures to keep guests safe. When you enter the hotel grounds, the car will be searched. Then when you enter the hotel your bags will be put through a screener and you will need to walk through a metal detector. There are also armed guards and dogs at the entrance. This isn’t anything unique to the Marriott–it’s like that all over Bali. Almost all of the guards we encountered were very friendly.

The lobby is very impressive. There are numerous areas to lounge around. The staff greeted us with a welcome drink and had our room available early so we could check in right away.

There are fountains and sculptures throughout the hotel.

The hotel is very quiet. There are a lot of desolate places throughout the hotel where you can relax.

We stayed in a King room with a garden view. It was nicely decorated, and most importantly, very clean.

Of course, the room also had all of the modern amenities such as a mini-bar, flat screen tv, and wireless internet.

There was also a beautiful patio with chairs.

The Marriott Nusa Dua has a full fitness center. There is also a beautiful spa where I enjoyed a foot massage on my last day there.

Perhaps the most impressive aspect of the Marriott was the pool. More specifically, the four pools. Each pool was separated by a small foot path, so you could walk freely across the pools to enjoy the bar or the restaurant.

I was too busy enjoying the delicious breakfast buffet to get a picture of it (oops!). There was a wide variety of food and it was always hot. The wait staff was very attentive and knew our names by the second day. The restaurant was open air so we had a great pool view while we ate.

If there was any downside to staying at this hotel, it was that it was not directly on the beach. That being said, there was a shuttle that left every 10 minutes to take guests to a private beach club. The beach club had umbrellas, chairs, towels, and a full bar with food. This wasn’t much of an inconvenience for us as we had other things planned for most days. However, I could see this being inconvenient if someone was planning on staying near the hotel on most days. If you forget something, it’s kind of a pain to get back to the hotel. There isn’t a whole lot to do near the hotel. There are a few convenience stores and restaurants, but if you are looking for a nightlife, you probably aren’t going to find it here.

Overall, this was a very relaxing hotel to spend our vacation at. If you have any questions about the Marriott in Nusa Dua, Bali, please let me know!
