Compression Sock Review

I’d always wondered what compression socks were all about. I’ve heard people who fly often swear by them, but I’d never tried them myself. When I saw them in the stores they always looked so clinical and I didn’t give them a second thought. Recently I saw some compression socks that were actually cute and I had to give them a try. The brand is Sockwell and I’d love to tell you about them.

So what exactly are compression socks?

Just like the name says, compression socks are designed to put pressure on your feet and legs. This keeps the blood flowing and improves circulation. This is especially important if you are sitting for long periods of time (such as flying). Here’s a bit of info from Sockwell’s website:

Sockwell Compression socks are made in the U.S.A. of 32% Merino Wool, 31% Bamboo Rayon, 32% Stretch Nylon, and 5% Spandex.

One of the styles I got was in the Incline Knee High in black.

The other is the Chevron in blue.

I wore them on a 14 hour train ride as well as a 13 hour flight. Normally after a long flight my ankles are noticeably swollen. This time I did not notice any swelling. My legs also tend to get restless when I fly and I noticed far fewer twitches than normal. Given how long they are I was expecting to get hot. Surprisingly, they were very breathable and my feet/legs did not get noticeably warm. Overall, I’m sold and plan on wearing them on every flight I take!

You would not believe how many adorable styles they have. If knee-high isn’t your style, they also have shorter ones.

If you’re not specifically looking for compression socks, you might want to check out Sockwell’s sister company, Goodhew. They have styles in many different lengths, including athletic socks.

I can’t wait until the cooler weather returns and I can try out these quarter and crew socks. They’re made of the same great wool and other materials as the Sockwell socks.

If you travel as much as I do, I think you’ll love these socks. Give them a try! If you’d like to see more Sockwell socks, find them on their website, Facebook, Instagram or find their sister company on Twitter!
